AT THE VOLUNTEER INN |
AT LYME REGIS, DORSET, SOUTH WEST, ENGLAND, uk Apparitions, spectres,
phantoms or just spooks. |
| On the night of the 1st. January 2000 a lady stayed
overnight in The Volunteer Inn.
In the early hours of the morning she was standing at the bar watching the staff clear up after the new year celebrations, other customers had left. She reports that suddenly the atmosphere went cold and a shiver ran through her spine.

The Lyme Regis Ghosts Tour operator He knows all about the local ghosts, apparitions, phantoms, spectres, spooks and musketeers. |
She turned around to find three men dressed in large floppy felt
hats.
They, she described, were dressed colourfully in Musketeers' style of clothing with broad baldric belts and buckles and drinking from pewter tankards. |
One of the bar-men has of late seen shadows coming down the stairs but on investigation found no one. There has been much speculation as to who the Musketeers are, perhaps they are officers from the 8 week Civil War Siege of Lyme Regis in 1644. Most of the buildings in Lyme have been undisturbed by renovation since then. We all now eagerly await their next appearance. |
