Lyme Regis and Beatrix PotterAn extract from Beatrix Potters |
| Formerly a Coaching Inn, The Mariners Hotel
is scheduled as "of historic interest", immortalised by Beatrix
Potter in her book "Tale of Little Pig Robinson".
The Hotel although containing all modern
comforts, still retains its superb 17th century character. Oak beams
irregularly shaped rooms, bags of character and most of all a warm Dorset
welcome awaits you.
From the moment you check-in you can relax and forget the rigors of every day life and let the Mariners help you unwind and guide you to places of interest in the surrounding Dorset countryside. Memorably different, for those on holiday or on business, the gourmet, or the romantic, will find the ambience and tranquility borne out of everything being well ordered. The furnishings and decorations reflect the location and quality of care. Check out our 'Bargain Breaks' for out of
season time, or perhaps 'The Family Gathering', or Club Weekend. |
| The hotel affords one of the finest views
in Lyme Regis over looking Lyme Bay, Golden Cap and in the distance Chesil
Beach and the heartland of Portland.
Take breakfast in the restaurant and plan
your days cliff walking or sight seeing. With so much to see in the
surrounding Dorset coastline, with Devon only a mile to the West and with
all the charms that the county offers. In the warm months of the year we
offer cream teas in the garden (floodlit in the evening) and in the
colder one's why not relax with a good book in our comfortable sun lounge.
Open all year, Christmas and New Year programme available on September
1st.
Enjoy a cool drink, soak up the sun and savour the wonderful views from the secluded garden. With plenty of space, you can be sure of a relaxing time. As you would expect from a hotel close to the sea "fresh fish" plays an important part in our menu. A good rapport with the local fisherman ensures that the Mariners retains its reputation for varied and exacting fish dishes. The hotel also offers a
balanced A là Carte or Table d' Hôte menu with fresh local produce offered
wherever possible and will if necessary cater for diet or health conditions,
if requested in reasonable time.
The Mariners has 12 bedrooms with en-suite facilities. All rooms are tastefully decorated and well appointed, and contain direct dial telephone, colour television, tea and coffee making facilities. |
