Wootton Fitzpaine is surrounded by beautiful countryside, deep rural lanes
and is within walking distance of the famous fossil beach and World Heritage
Coast at Charmouth. It is a perfect place in which to enjoy the
peace and quiet of the country, set in an area of outstanding natural
beauty. Longlands Cottage and Meerhay Cottage are situated
on the edge of the village.
Barn and Cider Cottages stand adjacent to our working farm.
Within a very short distance
there are many interesting walks with breathtaking clifftop views, as well as charming, secluded haunts. Visitors enjoy
the varied flora and fauna, and can participate in activities such as
golf, bowling, sailing, pony trekking and biking.
Charmouth has a safe
beach, which is a mixture of sand and pebbles, and also a Heritage Coast
Information Centre. Lyme Regis, 2.5 miles away, is famous for its
Cobb, an ancient harbour. Visitors can meander round the narrow streets,
and browse leisurely in the fascinating bookshops, art galleries, curio shops and the wonderful museum.
There are numerous good quality eating places which serve local food,
and literary connections with famous authors such as Thomas Hardy,
Jane Austen and John Fowles, "The French Lieutenant's Woman". |
