They are centrally heated and equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, radio alarms, colour television;  all with en-suite or private bathrooms fitted with power showers, hairdryer plus shaver point.
Delicious breakfast, traditional and vegetarian, (using local fresh produce) is served in the cheerfully decorated dining room, after which you may retire to the relaxing lounge where newspapers will be available.

The Old Lyme Guest House
is an historic building in a quiet street in the heart of the picturesque old town close to the newly restored town corn mill.
Built of the local blue lias limestone, part of it dates back several hundred years.
From 1799 to 1853 this house was first Lyme Regis post office.
Lyme's famous 19th century fossil hunter Mary Anning stayed with us recently. No! Not her ghost, but actress Miriam Cooper, who plays the part for London's Natural History Museum.
The wooden letter box still to be seen in its original place in the front of our building is reputed to be one of the oldest in England. Also, presumably, this is where Jane Austin posted the letter to her sister Cassandra on the 14th of September 1804.

Local historian Richard Fox writes -
"It is called an Ostler Box, one posting slit for pedestrians the other  for a man on horseback."

This cannon ball was recently found during building excavations in the back garden. It weighs 9lbs and was fired from a cannon called a 'demi-culvern' which had a range of up to 1800 yards.

It was one of the many that bombarded the houses and defenses of the old town by the gunners of Prince Maurice's Army during the civil war siege in 1644.
