If you have five minutes to spare LymeRegis.com has an interesting history…
Back in 1999 when the Internet was still a new fangled thing but a chap a called Ron Bailey who lived in Lyme Regis town centre had the vision to register LymeRegis.com.
Ron was also operated a successful charter boat called Susie-B out of Lyme (his son still runs it now), but any local skipper will tell you the problem with this line of business is actually ‘getting out to fish’. Running a charter boat is very weather dependant and in the winter one could be unable to fish for months at a time due to severe storms. So Ron had the idea to set up LymeRegis.com to bring him in an income during the winter months. I lived in Lyme at the time and was into computers, websites and domain names and as a student I struck a deal with Ron where I designed websites for his clients and Ron was just happy with a small commission. A few years later when I had left Bournemouth University, I had done some IT contracts and saved some money and was looking to invest in a way that would give me a sustainable and steady income for the future, and that was when I decided to buy LymeRegis.com off Ron and here we are now. Sadly Ron passed away a few years later after losing a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
Since then I acquired other famous destinations along the Jurassic Coast such as Exmouth.com
